I graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor’s of Art degree in Visual Communication Design, and with a minor in Advertising.

My philosophy in Graphic Design is that my work is the solution to a communication “puzzle”. Research becomes critical; with more information, a solution is easier to find.

I look at projects from the perspective of non-designers and the audience to find the best solution; a piece can look good, but does it make sense if read from far away, or is it illegible?

Always ready to learn new techniques and programs; I truly enjoy talking to others to learn about their skills and experiences. Teamwork is connecting with what your teammates do in their job; understanding that process means I can deliver a more effective design outcome.

I enjoy a bit of humor in my personal work, and professionally, I am detail oriented. When I am given an assignment, I focus and dedicate my time until completion. It is also important to be able to step back from my work and let someone else look at it. That gives me feedback, and I can come back with fresh ideas.

In my free time, I like to read and garden. I also love hiking and going to the zoo. I’ve been going to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium since I was a very small child, and try to support the work they do for conservation and education about our planet and wildlife.

I’ve been involved in theater, specifically as a stage crew member: building sets, painting props, and even directing stage cues. This encouraged an interest in exhibit design; a combination of set design, research, and production. An exhibit that really resonated with me was COSI’s Mythic Creatures. There was a great blend of entertainment for kids and artifacts for adults, which made it possible for everyone to enjoy and learn.
